Join us for a captivating evening of music and dance, headlined by the Seamus Egan Project, led by one of the most influential artists in Irish traditional music. From his early days as a teen prodigy to his groundbreaking work with Solas, Seamus Egan has shaped the sound of a generation. A virtuosic multi-instrumentalist and composer, his contributions span film, songwriting, and performance — all driven by a deep-rooted connection to tradition and a forward-looking creative spirit.
The Seamus Egan Project brings together a stellar ensemble of collaborators who share Egan’s expansive vision. Jenna Moynihan is regarded as one of the leading new voices in freestyle fiddle playing. Drawing deeply from the Scottish tradition and blending influences from American, Irish, and Scandinavian styles, her inventive and expressive playing has earned her performances around the world, including with The Boston Pops, and appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS Sunday Morning. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music. Yann Falquet, a dynamic Québécois guitarist and founding member of Genticorum, adds rhythmic depth and subtlety to the group, bringing a distinct French-Canadian flavour to the ensemble’s sound.
Opening the evening is Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen, a celebrated Cape Breton duo whose new album Home blends traditional roots with fresh songwriting and intuitive musical chemistry. Both are long-time members of Còig, with a shared history of touring internationally and collecting awards — including a 2024 Music Nova Scotia Award for Traditional Recording of the Year and two Canadian Folk Music Award nominations for 2025. Their set showcases tight harmonies, superb musicianship, and a warmth that only comes from years of playing together.
Dancers Matt Olwell and Rebecca McGowan will join throughout the night, weaving percussive step into the music with a unique blend of sean-nós, Appalachian flatfooting, and contemporary movement. Their collaboration with the musicians adds a visual and rhythmic richness to the performance, bringing the full stage to life.
Expect an unforgettable evening of musical mastery, collaborative energy, and artistic joy — where tradition meets innovation in the hands (and feet) of some of today’s most compelling performers.
