Mark Currie is a respected session musician and teacher in the traditional Kerry style. His versatility and openness to exploration have led to interesting collaborative projects with various artists. Recent studio recording projects include Hal Bruce's video We Can Dream On, Cassie and Maggie MacDonald's Sterling Road and Gillian Boucher's album Attuned, to name a few.
Mark has been a member of several bands and is a founding member of MacCrimmon's Revenge. His unique phrasing and voice on the bodhran were heavily influenced by his earlier musical career as a highland piper and growing up in a house listening to his father play Scottish tunes on the harmonica.
Ever restless in the pursuit of infectious grooves Mark has also become an accomplished didgeridoo player. He is endlessly intrigued with the possibilities of fusing Celtic music with rhythmic didgeridoo patterns, an integral sound within many of MacCrimmon's Revenge pieces.
