Marcel grew up in Havana, Cuba. There he became passionate about Celtic music, performing in Galician pipe bands, co-founding an Asturian bagpipe band, and starting the first International Multi-Celtic Festival, a celebration of Celtic and traditional music in 2010 and 2011. His first appearance in Nova Scotia was performing at Celtic Colours in 2008 and he fell in love with the Maritimes.
Now Marcel lives in Halifax, but stays connected to his Cuban roots playing Cuban, Spanish and Latin-American traditional and contemporary music in the Halifax music scene. Earlier this year he started performing with M.A.P.A, Marcel Amores & Plan Ashé.
We are thrilled to have him at Re-Jigged and hope you can come to hear him play at the Four Pipes concert on Sunday.
