Come to Dance!

Whether beginner or experienced -- or somewhere in between -- you're sure to find the perfect dance workshop at Re-Jigged. This year, we're delighted to offer classes in Irish sean-nos (old-style) step, Cape Breton step and Irish square set dance, along with a special noon-time class designed to get you ready for the Saturday Late-Night Ceilidh.

This year's program is designed to ensure you're able to take every dance workshop, if you'd like (and you've the energy).

  • Dance classes are open to anyone 11 years and older.
  • No prior dance is experience is required for beginner-level workshops. Advanced workshops, on the other hand, are designed for more experienced dancers. If you've questions about whether a workshop is right for you or not, ask us before signing up.
  • For all classes, wear comfortable clothing and, if possible, leather-soled shoes. Tap shoes are also acceptable for step classes.
  • Please ask the instructor's permission before taking video footage.

Single workshops are $30 for adults, $25 for students. But don't stop at one! Our workshop package pricing makes learning easy -- and economical.

Irish Sean-Nos Step

Considered the oldest of Ireland's step dance styles, sean-nos step traces its origins to the Connemara region in the west of Ireland. Known for its deeply percussive, heel-and-toe qualities, sean-nos is often referred to as the "jazz of Irish step dancing." In this playful, relaxed  dance form, you're encouraged to interpret the music with your feet.

We're delighted to welcome Jackie O'Reilly from Boston to Re-Jigged '17. She'll be offering two levels of workshops:

Advanced: TBA.
Location: TBA

Beginner: Saturday morning, October 21,
9:00 - 10:30 a.m
Location: Check in at Christ Church
Date: Saturday, October 21

If you've never danced Irish step before, sean-nos is an ideal place to start.

Cape Breton Step Dance

Cape Breton Step Dance is a percussive style that takes part of its original form from Scotland, having the same basic movements and rhythms, and adds a flair and style that's completely unique to the Island. Kelly's enthusiastic instruction will inform you about the culture of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and Scotland while teaching you to keep it "close to the floor."

Irish Set Dance

Irish Set (Square) dancing is possibly the most fun you can have on two feet. An easy-to-learn style of traditional Irish social dance, the sets are danced in square formations, using simple footwork and cool patterns. With two workshops to choose from, you'll find yourself dancing to reels, jigs, polkas, slides and hornpipes in no time. Then on Sunday afternoon, join us for a real Irish set dance session -- complete with live music -- at the Old Triangle Pub from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Jim Keenan from Washington, DC, is leading our first Re-Jigged set dance workshops. You have two options to choose from (but why choose? come to both!) Please join us!
